We built STORM to put all the control you need, right at your fingertips. One dashboard, one view, one intuitive toolkit for managing your websites, super smoothly. Today we’re taking a closer look at one of those tools – the ability to turn websites off, and on again, in just one click…

Shutdown in seconds

If you’re a web development agency, there are going to be times when you need to suspend your clients’ sites temporarily. Maybe you’ve been briefed to make some changes, correct some content, refresh their brand or add some new features. Whatever it is you’re working on, being able to suspend the site while you get down to it is pretty darn handy.

Even better, in STORM, it’s a one-click job. Just flick the Temporary Suspend Website toggle in under the website Configuration and STORMwill shut the website down instantly. No jumping through hoops, no nonsense. Just switch off, do your work without the world watching, then flick the toggle again to go live. Easy peasy. While the website is suspended we will display a maintenance page with a 503 error so Google knows to come back later.

Protect your clients

It’s a simple tool that’s useful for a whole bunch of reasons. As well as making it easier to develop your websites, it also gives you a fast, effective way of protecting your clients if their site’s compromised or under attack.

As soon as a problem’s detected, you can suspend the website, limiting the damage caused and looking after your client’s reputation. Then, once any issues have been dealt with, you can relaunch instantly, keeping downtime to a minimum.

Make sure you get paid

It’s not just your clients you can protect with the STORM instant shut-down toggle. It’s your business – and your livelihood. When you’ve worked hard to build a website but your client is slow (or reluctant) to pay, being able to shut their site down gives you the power back – and gives them a really strong incentive to come up with the cash.

Once they do, their site can be live again in seconds – no extra work for you, no extra delay for them. It’s a straightforward way of working and we think you’re going to love it.
